Last Safe Zone trainings of semester scheduled for April 20

Submitted by Anna Waugh

The last two Safe Zone trainings of the semester will take place Wednesday, April 20. Global Campus and International Student and Scholar Services will each facilitate a training discussing ways in which we can support the populations each office serves.

Student Services at a Distance will be from 11 a.m. to noon on April 20, in 126 Leadership Studies Building. Global Campus presenters will include Jason Maseberg Tomlinson, Laura Widenor and Rebecca Dale.

K-State has many great resources on campus for students. Did you know that we also provide similar services for distance students? We will spend an hour talking about the needs of distance students and the appropriate delivery of student services. We will help you consider how to best communicate with distance students and make sure that you have the resources you need when questions arise. We would like to show you how easy it can be to extend K-State community support to students around the world.

Supporting International Students will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on April 20 in the International Student Center. Presenters include Kara Warren, Sara Thurston, International Student and Scholar Services and a panel of international K-State students.

This workshop will examine the experiences of international students at K-State and discuss approaches to working with and supporting these students.
