Political science faculty present at International Studies Association annual convention

Five political science professors presented at the International Studies Association annual convention on March 16-19 in Atlanta, Georgia. 

Sam Bell presented two papers, "When is the Preventive Motivations Most Dangerous: The Conditional Effect of Expected Shifts in Power" and "Electoral Compliance and Human Rights Violations." Bell also served as the chair and discussant for the panel "Bargaining, Commitment, and Peace."

Michael E. Flynn presented "Military Action as A Natural Experiment on the Natural Environment" with co-authors Michael A. Allen, Boise State; and Benjamin Farrer, Knox College.

Flynn, Rebecca Kaye and Carla Martinez Machain presented "U.S. Military Deployments and Development in Latin America." Martinez Machain also served as discussant for the panel "The Initiation, Dynamics and Terminations of International Conflict."

Emizet F. Kisangani and Jeff Pickering presented "Diversion, Greed, or Political Consolidation? An Analysis of Military Intervention within Africa."
