K-State Wind Ensemble and Brass Ensemble perform at KMEA
The Kansas State University Wind Ensemble and Brass Ensemble will perform at the Kansas Music Educators Association in-service workshop Friday, Feb. 26, at the Century II Concert Hall in Wichita.
Both ensembles were selected to perform for this year's conference by a state committee.
The Brass Ensemble will perform the music of Richard Strauss, Mark Camphouse, Eugene Bozza and Pavel Tschesnokoff. The performance will take place at 8:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Ballroom. The ensemble's membership includes 44 brass and percussion students and is conducted by graduate students Alex Wimmer, Dan Haddad, Rachel Villareale and Alex Cook.
The Wind Ensemble is the top concert band at K-State and will perform at 12:15 p.m. in the Century II Concert Hall. Tod Kerstetter will perform as a clarinet soloist with the group on Scott McAllister's rock-inspired work, "Black Dog." The concert also will feature works by David Gillingham, Michael Daugherty and John Philip Sousa. Frank Tracz is the conductor of the Wind Ensemble.
