Chilled water expansion project: Closure of sidewalk west of Hale Library

Submitted by Jack Carlson

Beginning Monday, Sept. 28, the sidewalk immediately west of Hale Library will close for the installation of two 18-inch diameter pipes as part of the chilled water expansion project.

In preparation for closing off this main sidewalk, the contractor will construct a temporary narrow sidewalk adjacent to the west side of Hale Library beginning as early as today. The narrower sidewalk will limit the usual number of people who can easily pass by each other, so all pedestrians are encouraged to navigate around this area by walking around the west side of English and Counseling Services Building or the east side of Hale Library.

The temporary sidewalk will be completed before the piping construction begins on Sept. 28. This piping installation work is expected to take four to six weeks.

View a map of campus vehicular traffic and accessible pedestrian routes. Additional maps are being updated and will be available soon. Please bear in mind these dates are estimated projections and may vary slightly as construction progresses and as weather cooperates with our work. Accessibility to buildings is indicated on the maps.

K-State's Division of Facilities and the construction team appreciate everyone's cooperation and navigation of lengthy walks as you move around the Manhattan campus.
