Engineering launches CLUE program for students

Submitted by Dave Hoffman

Searching for ways to become a leader on campus and within the College of Engineering? Want to have an impact on the visit experience of prospective engineering students? Looking for opportunities to set yourself apart during interviews and career fairs?

If you answered "yes" to any of the questions above, then we highly encourage you to check out the Engineering CLUE, or College Leadership, Understanding and Education program being offered this semester.

Current engineering students have the opportunity to be a part of the CLUE program, which consists of weekly one-hour sessions for eight weeks throughout the semester. Don't worry — it's not for credit, completely free and won't affect your GPA.

Each session will feature a guest speaker and small group breakout sessions that focus on a topic pertaining to academic, personal and professional development. CLUE participants will be able to interact and converse with current leaders within the College of Engineering and K-State as a whole.

CLUE participants have the choice of attending section 1 from 5:30-6:20 p.m. Wednesdays or section 2 from 4:30-5:20 p.m. Thursdays. You will be notified of which section you are in by Sunday, Sept. 6, and sessions start Sept. 9 and 10.

The CLUE Program also serves as a prerequisite to the Engineering Ambassador program, so if you are interested in being involved in the campus visit experience, participating in CLUE is the first step to being considered for membership in Ambassadors.

We will be out in the engineering atrium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today through Thursday, Sept. 3, with a few giveaways, so be sure to stop by our table to learn more about the CLUE Program from current ambassadors.

Informational sheets and applications can be found in 1056 Rathbone Hall, or you can attend an optional informational meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, or 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, in Fiedler Auditorium to learn more about the program.

If you have any questions about the CLUE Program, contact the Office of Recruitment at 785-532-5514 or kstateengg@k-state.edu. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, in 1056 Rathbone Hall. We hope to see you in a CLUE session soon.
