K-State Speech Forum Thursday, April 30

Six students from two advanced public speaking classes will present campus issue persuasive speeches at the K-State Speech Forum from 4-5 p.m. Thursday, April 30, in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building.

The students, from two advanced public speaking sessions of COMM 321, were selected by their peers to present their campus issue speeches to the public. This event is a platform for students to showcase their research, speech creation and delivery skills in an effort to address problems and provide solutions that could benefit Kansas State University and the community.

The students, their respective majors, and their speech titles in the order in which they will present:

  1. Emily Holliday, sophomore in communication studies and a secondary major in international studies, "The 10%: Improving International & Domestic Student Interactions."
  2. Cole Maddox, freshman in agricultural technology management, "(Wire)less: Upgrading Wireless Internet at the Dorms."
  3. Joshua Karimi, sophomore in secondary education, "Black'in the Academy: State of Black Studies at KSU."
  4. Arielle Monroe, senior in communication studies, "On Trial: Mock Trial Needs a Paid Coach."
  5. Sara Nider, sophomore in secondary education with a speech/theatre focus, "If Walls Could Talk: Increasing Awareness for the CARE Program."
  6. Miranda Rider, senior in secondary education with a speech/theatre focus, "Meet ALICE: Making ALICE Training Available to the Student Body."

The speech forum is free and open to the public.
