K-State Alumni Association selects students to help plan homecoming's 100th anniversary

Submitted by Dawn Furnas

Eighteen Kansas State University students recently were selected to join the 2015 Homecoming Committee, which is made up of about 40 students. This year's celebration marks the 100th anniversary of the homecoming tradition at K-State. Activities will take place Oct. 11-17, concluding with the football game against Oklahoma on Oct. 17.

The 2015 K-State Student Ambassadors also will serve on the committee. They are Nathan Laudan, senior, food science and agricultural communications, Paola; and Katie VanDever, sophomore, communication studies, Augusta.

A committee of K-State Alumni Association staff members selects students for the Homecoming Student Committee after an application review process. The committee members are responsible for selecting and planning all homecoming events, creating rules and guidelines for student competitions, and promoting and staffing all events.

"We are looking forward to working with this creative, hardworking group of students," said Amanda Lee, assistant director of student programs for the K-State Alumni Association. "They will ensure that the 100th anniversary of K-State Homecoming will be something students and alumni will remember for years to come."
