K-State Wind Ensemble performance this afternoon

Submitted by Don Linn

The K-State Wind Ensemble will present a special pre-Carnegie Hall trip performance at 4 p.m. today in All Faiths Chapel.

The K-State Wind Ensemble is the premier band at Kansas State University, made up of the finest student musicians on campus. The band will perform the works of Paul Richards, David Maslanka, Arturo Marquez and Gustav Holst. Featured on this concert will be faculty soloists Anna Wytko and Dr. David Littrell.

The afternoon program will give the K-State audience a preview of what the ensemble will be performing in Carnegie Hall next week in New York City. The ensemble was invited to perform in New York by the New York International Music Festival. Members will begin their journey at the end of this week and they are excited to perform on one of the world's greatest stages for a music festival that attracts the top high school and university bands at an international level. While in New York, the band also will perform at the Naumberg Band Shell in Central Park.

The K-State Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Frank Tracz. This concert is open to the public. Admission is free.
