Show your support for Fort Riley soldiers at listening session today

Submitted by Jackie Hartman

Fort Riley soldiers need your support as they encounter a potential troop reduction and discussion with Army leaders.

A Community Listening Session, part of the Army Force Structure and Stationing Decision process, will be from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at the Geary County Convention Center at the Marriott Courtyard, 310 Hammons Drive, Junction City.

The process is to determine which Army bases will lose soldiers from the Budget Control Act of 2011, or sequestration. The Army's directive is to reduce personnel down to 450,000-420,000 troops. The listening session is an opportunity for the community to provide input to Army leaders; however, providing verbal input is not required. Your attendance is important.

Arrive early and carpool if possible.
