K-State teams place in top three at regional competition

Student teams from the architectural engineering and construction science department brought home second- and third-place awards competing in three divisions of the Region IV Associated Schools of Construction 2014 Student Competition, Oct. 22-25, in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

The Associated Schools of Construction student competition is an annual event for the 15 universities from the seven states represented by Region IV.

Demetri Praderio, Vincent Praderio, Carl Rodgers, Joshua Schmitt and Bryce Yohn, all in construction science, placed second in the heavy/highway division. Jim Goddard, professor of architectural engineering and construction science, and regional coordinator of the heavy/highway division, served as the team's coach.

The design-build team of Greg Anderson, Brad Halbleib, Jordan Heinen, Ismael Hernandez and August Sukolics, all in construction science, and Jacob Lengquist, architectural engineering, placed third in the design-build division. Ray Buyle, assistant professor of architectural engineering and construction science, and regional coordinator of the design-build division, was the team coach.

In addition, Tom Logan, associate professor of architectural engineering and construction science, served as regional coordinator of the commercial division of the competition.
