Tony McLeod, K-State Oz to Oz Fulbright scholar, will present the seminar "Surface Water and Groundwater Management in the Murray-Darling Basin, Australia (Challenges Shared with Kansas)" at 2 p.m. Oct. 15 in the K-State Student Union's Room 207.

McLeod is the general manager of water resource planning at the Murray–Darling Basin Authority in Canberra, Australia. He is a 2014 Fulbright senior scholar at the Getches- Wilkinson Center at the University of Colorado, Boulder for the fall semester and is visiting Kansas State University as part of the Oz to Oz program linking Australian Fulbright scholars with the activities of the university.

His seminar will outline recent history in the management of surface water and groundwater in the Murray-Darling Basin, Australia, in particular the development of the Water Act 2007 and the introduction of the 2012 Basin Plan. He also will explore shared future challenges for water management including in terms of institutional form, climate change and the involvement of Indigenous people in water management.

McLeod completed his doctorate at the University of Melbourne in 1993, focusing on water resource management in northern Victoria. He has worked on water management for the New South Wales and Australian Federal governments and has been with the Murray-Darling Basin Authority since 2008.
