Mock crime scene, crime scene investigator demonstrations Sept. 25

Submitted by Cody Blake

The Kappa Sigma Upsilon-American Criminal Justice Association is hosting the K-State Mock Crime Scene from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, in the K-State Student Union courtyard.

The event is free and open to everyone. We will have free drinks, while supplies last, and also will be raffling off prizes. Raffle tickets are available for a $1 suggested donation per ticket or six tickets for $5. We will be raffling off free meals to McAlister's and a gift card from Dillons.

Two Riley County Police Department officers and crime scene investigators, Alan Rinkiker and Liz Hartman, will demonstrate certain techniques that are used in the field as a crime scene investigator.

There will be a mock crime scene for students to see if they can find the most evidence. The first three students to find all the evidence and give a correct hypothesis to the nature of the crime will win a free T-shirt. If no one finds all of the evidence we will select the top three.

The Riley County Police Department and Kappa Sigma Upsilon-American Criminal Justice Association will have informational booths. Any student organizations with interests in criminology and criminal justice fields also may set up booths for the event.
