Don't forget to register your teaching assistants for GTA orientation on Aug. 22

Submitted by Shay Dodson

The Center for Teaching and Learning would like to welcome all students with teaching responsibilities to GTA orientation. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 22, in the Hemisphere Room at Hale Library. Refreshments and information packets featuring K-State resources, teaching tips and best practices will be provided.

Register your graduate teaching assistants online and the event schedule also is available at online.

Laurie Curtis, assistant professor of curriculum and instruction, and Shannon Washburn, professor of communications and agricultural education, will discuss what to do on the first day of class. Faculty and experienced graduate teaching assistants will facilitate discussion in breakout groups, and we will go over the graduate teaching assistants Recognition of Achievement in Professional Development Program, a series of events dedicated to teaching best practices and designed to help teaching assistants be successful as they work with students.

Please contact us at catl@k-state.edu or 785-532-7828 if you have any questions. Please don't forget to register your graduate teaching assistants or any students with teaching responsibilities so we have their names on our roster. We look forward to seeing your teaching assistants at GTA Orientation.
