Emergency fire equipment tests July 8-12

Submitted by Steve Galitzer

Between July 8-12 SimplexGrinnell will test the fire hydrants around campus. Building occupants may notice a transitory reddish-brown color to the water in the building. This water is considered potable but it may taste or smell unusual. I recommend that the tap with discolored water be left running until clear.

Between July 8-19 SimplexGrinnell will be performing the quarterly sprinkler inspection in:

  • Anderson Hall
  • Beach Art Museum
  • Burt Hall
  • King Annex
  • Chem/Biochem Building
  • Center for Child Development
  • Durland Hall
  • Dykstra Hall
  • Fiedler Hall
  • Foundation Building
  • Hale Library
  • Leadership Studies Building
  • McCain
  • Nichols Hall
  • Rathbone Hall
  • Peters Recreation Complex
  • Pat Roberts Hall
  • Ross Flour Mill
  • Seaton Hall
  • Seaton Court
  • Shellenberger Hall
  • Sheep and Meat Goat Building
  • Stanley Stout Center
  • Throckmorton Hall
  • Ward Hall
  • Weber Hall
  • K-State Student Union
    Union Storage (Engineering Warehouse)
  • Athletics
    Bill Snyder Family Stadium
    Bramlage Coliseum
    Frank Meyers Baseball Stadium
    Indoor Practice Facility
    Vanier Football Complex
  • College of Veterinary Medicine
    Coles Hall
    Mosier Hall
    Trotter Hall

The quarterly sprinkler system testing for all campus buildings will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. Testing of the sprinkler systems will not disrupt the building occupants.

Police dispatch, facilities and the Manhattan Fire Department will be notified for each building at the start of the test. Please refer your comments and questions to safety@k-state.edu or call 785-532-5856.
