K-State Libraries faculty present at Association of College and Research Libraries 2013

Several K-State Libraries faculty presented at the recent Association of College and Research Libraries, or ACRL, biennial conference in Indianapolis. Following is a listing of all those who participated and their presentation topics.

Regina Beard, associate professor in faculty and graduate services, offered both a pre-conference workshop and a panel presentation. The workshop, titled "Rediscover the Joy of Working Together!: Positive Approaches for Increasing Collaboration and Effectiveness in Libraries," was presented along with Jean Darbyshire, director emerita from K-State Libraries, and colleagues from Rockhurst University, the University of Kansas, and the University of Iowa. Beard's panel, "The Forgotten Population: Using Assessment to Uncover the Library Needs of Graduate Students" was presented with colleagues from Marquette University and Washington University in St. Louis. 

Melia Erin Fritch, assistant professor in undergraduate and community services, presented a poster, "Leaving the Literary Canon: Incorporating Diversity in Library Instruction."

Holger Lenz and Marc Nash, instructional design residents in undergraduate and community services, presented a poster "The New Normal - Residencies in the Technological Age."

Laurel Littrell, associate professor and director of library planning and assessment, presented a poster titled "Library Involvement in Campus-wide Accreditation."

Cindy Logan, assistant professor in undergraduate and community services, offered a roundtable session, "Summers of Opportunity: Librarian Connections with Undergraduate Research Programs."

Livia Olsen, assistant professor in faculty and graduate services, Jason Coleman, assistant professor in undergraduate and community services, and Jenny Oleen, assistant professor in scholarly communications and publishing, presented a poster titled "Subject Matrices: An innovative approach to serving the agricultural and biological science disciplines."

Association of College and Research Libraries is a division of the American Library Association and a professional association of academic librarians and other interested individuals. It is dedicated to enhancing the ability of academic library and information professionals to serve the information needs of the higher education community and to improve learning, teaching and research.
