Entomology student awarded grant, elected Konza representative

Shelly Wiggam-Ricketts, doctoral student in the department of entomology, received a Prairie Biotic Research Inc. grant for $1,000.

She successfully competed with projects from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Iowa State University, Ohio State University, Oklahoma State University, Minnesota State University, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin, Northwestern University, University of Kansas, University of Wyoming and the Missouri Department of Conservation.

The funds are allocated for research that fosters the conservation of our native prairies and broadens cultural understanding of their importance. Wiggam-Ricketts was also elected as the inaugural ex-officio graduate student representative for the Friends of Konza Prairie board of directors to help represent the interests of students conducting research on the prairie.
