Soulful sounds: Grammy-nominated group Sweet Honey in the Rock coming to McCain

Submitted by Communications & Marketing

February is Black History Month and Kansas State University will start the observance with Sweet Honey In The Rock, the internationally renowned and Grammy-nominated a cappella ensemble. The group will bring its harmonies and rhythms to McCain Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1.

The group was founded in 1973 in Washington, D.C., with a commitment to creating music out of the rich texture of African-American traditions. Sweet Honey performs blues, spirituals, gospel, reggae, African chants, hip-hop, ancient lullabies, jazz improvisations and more.

Tickets for this McCain Performance Series event cost $14-$55 with applicable taxes and fees, and can be purchased at the McCain Auditorium box office, by phone at 785-532-6428 or online at http://www.k-state.edu/mccain.
