Register now for the 2013 Spring Teaching Workshop
The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning and the Faculty Exchange for Teaching Excellence invites you to register now for the 2013 Spring Teaching Workshop, "S4-Simple Strategies for Student Success: An interactive presentation that will change the way you teach." The dates for the workshop are Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, Feb. 1 and 2, 2013. Do not miss this exciting event.
Todd Zakrajsek will be leading the workshops. Zakrajsek currently directs two Lilly Conferences on College and University Teaching and Learning. He has published and presented widely on the topic of student learning, including workshops and conference keynote addresses in 38 states and seven countries.
The Friday afternoon workshop will begin in Forum Hall, with a keynote presentation by Zakrajsek, "Overcoming Apathy and Creating Excitement in the College Classroom: Strategies for Teaching from the Psychology of Learning."
Between Zakrajsek’s sessions, there will be an opportunity for K-State faculty to share one idea in five minutes that works like a charm in their classroom or distance course, referred to as "Rapid Fire." If you are interested in presenting a "Rapid Fire" or would like more information, please email Kim Williams at kwilliam@k-state.edu.
Zakrajsek will end Friday's workshop by sharing information on "Enhancing Student Learning: Emerging Research and Innovative Strategies."
Saturday morning begins at 9 a.m. with a pancake breakfast and opening remarks by Coach Bill Snyder at the K-State Alumni Center. Zakrajsek's morning workshop will include further research findings and two additional activities that will change the way you teach, ending by 11:45 a.m.
Register online or mail/fax your registration form. The workshop registration fee is $10, which includes snacks and beverages during Friday afternoon breaks and the pancake breakfast Saturday morning.
