Submitted by Rebecca Paz

In March, Stephanie Bannister, assistant vice president for student life; Kiley Moody, program manager for scholars services; Rebeca Paz, assistant director of the Office of First-generation Students; and R.J. Youngblood, assistant director of the Academic Achievement Center, presented at the 2019 NASPA annual conference in Los Angeles, California.

Their session, "Creating and Office for First-generation Student Success and Engagement," generated engaging conversations among educators, administrators and practitioners across the nation who are seeking to learn more about best practices to serve first-generation students.

NASPA, National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, is a leading association for student affairs administrators in higher education, and hosts national and regional conferences. The NASPA annual conference is a global gathering of student affairs educators passionate about critical higher education issues. At the 2019 NASPA Annual Conference, more than 7,000 leaders and practitioners of higher education from across the nation and the world gathered to learn, engage and network.
