New publishing options for K-State faculty, information sessions offered April 23

University Press of Kansas is now offering a publishing services program for faculty and researchers at Kansas State University in addition to its long-standing service to the region of publishing scholarly books.
New available services include:
• Copy editing and proofreading
• Typesetting
• Indexing
• eBook conversion
• Cover design
• Printing
• Print on demand
• Sales connections to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Baker & Tyler, and Ingram
• Marketing and promotion
Faculty and researchers are invited to two sessions on Tuesday, April 23, to learn more.
Joyce Harrison, editor in chief at the University Press of Kansas, will give a presentation on publishing from 10:30-11:30 a.m. April 23 in the Purple Pride Conference Room at the K-State Alumni Center. It will cover topics such as finding publishers that match your project, preparing an effective cover letter, the elements of a strong proposal, author etiquette and working with your publisher. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
Harrison also will be available to meet with faculty from 1:30-5 p.m. April 23 in the Kansas State Bank Conference Room at the K-State Alumni Center. She can discuss your work in progress or your book idea and offer publishing advice, regardless of whether your project is a fit for UPK’s publishing program. Based at the University of Kansas, UPK represents a consortium of six state universities: Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University, Kansas State University, Pittsburg State University, Wichita State University and the University of Kansas. UPK publishes scholarly books in several genres, but stands out for its books in military history, U.S. history, environmental studies, Native American studies, politics and law.
