Greetings from the K-State Alumni Association.

Putting more K-State license plates on the road, signing up new members and planning for homecoming provide just a glimpse of what is keeping the staff at the K-State Alumni Association busy this fall.

We are excited to have more than 4,000 K-Staters driving with pride by sporting the K-State license plate on their vehicle. Our plate is currently the No. 1 affinity license plate in Kansas and continues to grow in popularity. The program has raised more than $1.8 million for student scholarships and recognition of achievements.

The 10th annual 5K race on Oct. 21 will kick off this year’s homecoming “Wildcat Adventures” celebration. To date, the 5K race has raised more than $48,000 and benefited a local nonprofit each year in the Manhattan area. This year’s proceeds will benefit the Anthony Bates Foundation. Additional events include the election of two K-State Student Ambassadors, Pant the Chant, Paint the ’Ville, Wildcat Request Live, the Homecoming Parade, football and volleyball games and much more. We hope you are able to join us this year in celebrating Wildcat Adventures, Homecoming 2012.

Our membership family continues to grow each day, as loyal K-Staters join the K-State Alumni Association membership program. The program is open to all alumni and friends, and with support of nearly 40,000, we remain No. 1 in the Big 12 for the 16 consecutive years for percentage of graduates who are members.

If you’re in need of reaching out to your alumni base, please remember the association and Kansas State University Foundation jointly maintain the university database that includes alumni, friends and donors. We have the ability to provide departments on campus access to the most up-to-date information for their graduates.

We’re always happy to help you in any way we can. For questions on how to utilize our database to reach your alumni, please contact Jeanine Lake at jlake@k-state.com.

In closing, we’d like to invite all of you and the Manhattan community to help us celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Alumni Center at an open house from 2-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22. We hope to see you there!
