Submitted by Chuck Martin

Two students in the College of Arts and Sciences' geography department will give Steve Kale Research Fellowship presentations this week.

Fangfang Yao, doctoral student, and Barrie Chileen, master's student, will present at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in the Wildcat Chamber at the K-State Student Union.

Yao's talk is titled "High Resolution Monitoring of Global Lake Water Storage and its Long-Term Changes"; and Chileen's talk is titled "Vegetation Response to Wildfire and Climate Forcing in a Rocky Mountain Lodgepole Pine Forest over the Past 2,500 Years." Yao and Chileen are the 2018 recipients of Kale Graduate Research Fellowships named in honor of the late Steve Kale, a 1970 graduate of the K-State geography department.

Yao and Chileen's talks are part of the geography department's visiting scholar series and are sponsored by the Beta Psi Chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon, the international geographic honor society and the geography department.
