Hohn honored for teaching excellence with Segebrecht Award

Keith Hohn, professor of chemical engineering, has been selected to receive the Segebrecht Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award for 2012.
The award was established in honor of Ervin W. Segebrecht, a 1938 graduate of Kansas State University, to recognize professors who provide inspiration and excellence in teaching.
Hohn will receive $2,000 and give a Segebrecht lecture during the spring semester.
"I am honored and humbled to join the list of distinguished chemical engineering and chemistry faculty who have previously received the Segebrecht Award," Hohn said. "Teaching students on the principles and applications of chemical engineering, particularly in regards to catalysis and reaction engineering, is a passion of mine, so I am pleased to be recognized in this way."
Hohn's research interests include catalysis and reaction engineering, nanoparticle catalysts and natural gas conversion, among other interests.
"I'm very happy to see Keith Hohn receive this award," said James Edgar, head of the department of chemical engineering. "Service to students is his top priority. All of our students appreciate his excellence as a teacher, the exceptional opportunities for learning he creates and his enthusiastic support of their successes. He is admired for his dedication to the chemical engineering profession and his teaching by faculty throughout the College of Engineering and the university."
Some of Hohn's recent awards include this year's James L. Hollis Memorial Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, which honors engineering faculty members for excellence in undergraduate education, and the Charles H. Scholer Outstanding Faculty Award, which honors faculty members for their service and education efforts.
