Health insurance open enrollment ends on Oct. 31

Submitted by Human Capital Services

Health Insurance open enrollment ends Wednesday, Oct. 31.

All benefits-eligible employees who currently have coverage must enroll in health coverage during this open enrollment period or they will be defaulted into Plan N with a Health Reimbursement Account, or HRA, for 2019 coverage. Employees who have waived coverage in 2018 will continue to have waived coverage in 2018.

Open enrollment is for the following benefits:

  • Health, dental and vision insurances.
  • Flexible spending accounts.
  • Health savings accounts.
  • Health reimbursement accounts.
  • HealthyKids.
  • Accidental injury, critical illness and hospital indemnity insurances.
  • Life insurance.
  • Short-term disability.

Human Capital Services has created an open enrollment website to highlight the benefits available during this open enrollment period. The State Employee Health Plan also has vendor presentations to provide information and tools that will assist in making decisions for enrollment for 2019. This website provides links to the open enrollment overview video, vendor presentations and a new tool, Alex. Alex is an educational tool that will help employees compare different plans and aid in the decision-making process before enrolling in coverage for 2019.

Enrollment must be completed by Oct. 31 to choose health insurance coverage for 2019.
