Hazard communication training offered in November, December

Submitted by Human Capital Services - Learning and Development

In 2012 the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, changed a long-standing regulation concerning chemicals in the work place. The Campus Environmental Health and Safety Committee approved a new hazard communication program that includes changes made in 2012 by OSHA.

To improve compliance with this regulation, the Department of Environmental Health and Safety is offering hazard communication training, WTD162, sessions. Training for the Globally Harmonized System of Chemical Classification and Labeling must be provided to all employees who work with chemicals.

Hazard communication training will be offered from 8-9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, and 9-10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6. Both sessions will take place in 11 Edwards Hall.

There is no charge to participants, but registration is necessary to ensure adequate seating and materials. Participants may register through HRIS Self_Enrollment or by sending an email to Megan Hoelting at learning-develop-hr@k-state.edu. When sending an email, please include your name, department, employee ID number, course title and the course number.

The Department of Environmental Health and Safety also will train individual departments upon request. Contact the Department of Environmental Health and Safety at 785-532-5856 or safety@k-state.edu
