APDesign professor Magyar finalist in international competition

Submitted by Thom Jackson

Magyar entry

A project, the "Windblown Icon," by Peter Magyar, professor of architecture in the College of Architecture, Planning & Design, has been chosen as a finalist for the World Architecture Festival in November. Trevor Rickett and Jacob Frazier, who were students in the architecture department, contributed to the project when it was submitted.

The World Architecture Festival is sponsored by Architectural Review magazine, a British journal, to promote and publicize outstanding designs from all over the world at its yearly events. The festival is juried by internationally acclaimed architects. Magyar will travel to Amsterdam to present the project to the jury to establish its final placing among the selected 16 finalist projects.

This is the second time that one of Magyar’s drawings has been featured at the festival. In 2017, it was shortlisted and exhibited in Berlin, Germany. The project was also a part of the "Roots of Infinity" exhibition in the Palace of Arts in Budapest in October 2017 and submitted to the Kip Island Auditorium International Architectural Competition in Riga, Latvia in January 2017
