Fourth annual K-State Movement Challenge

Submitted by Human Capital Services

The fourth annual K-State Movement Challenge started on Aug. 19. The Movement Challenge is a departmental competition to be the most active department. Employees all over K-State are invited to focus on their physical activity during the next five weeks and engage with their department through healthy behaviors.

The 2018 Movement Challenge takes place through Sept. 22. This year, faculty and staff will be challenged to track their daily active minutes and report activity through the Movement Challenge eReport. The eReport will be sent each week via email and will be available through regular K-State Today updates.

No sign up is necessary to participate! Just track your active minutes and log activity in the eReport each week. A separate eReport is available each week and will be open during the entire challenge. However, to be counted toward the department and individual leaderboard each week, activity must be entered by 5 p.m. on Tuesday following the close of the week.

Each week will include an additional challenge promoting healthy behaviors on campus:

  • Week one: Just get started! Set an intention for the challenge and act on it!
  • Week two: Do something active with a co-worker.
  • Week three: Do something active with someone on campus or share a way to be active on campus.
  • Week four: Do something active in your department.
  • Week five: Participate in a campus activity, such as the Wildcat Wellness Coalition's 5K.

Use the Week One eReport to report your active minutes from Aug. 19-25. Activity must be reported by 5 p.m. Aug. 28 to be counted in the first week's leaderboards.

Participants who participate all five weeks will be awarded four HealthQuest credits and corresponding HSA/HRA contributions at the end of the challenge. Random drawings for wellness-related prizes also will take place for participants and those who engage through social media using the hashtag #PurpleIsProgress.
