Jennifer Anthony selected as coordinator for Peer Review of Teaching Program

Submitted by Jana Fallin

The Teaching and Learning Center welcomes Jennifer Anthony, associate professor of chemical engineering, as the new coordinator for the Peer Review of Teaching Program.

Anthony has served in both the mentor and participant roles previously in this program. Her dedication to helping other professors grow in their abilities as teachers is demonstrated through her well-crafted, meaningful submissions to the professional portfolios for each professor she has mentored. Additionally, she has plans to collect data from past participants concerning the impact of the peer review process on their professional development. Results from this research will be disseminated in numerous ways to benefit K-State and other universities.

Anthony received her undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and both her master's degree and doctorate in chemical and biomolecular engineering from the University of Notre Dame. She has taught at K-State since 2012, receiving the chemical engineering Seniors' Award recognizing the senior students' selection as most impactful professor in 2015, the chemical engineering student-selected Most Approachable Professor Award in 2015, and the James T. Hollis Memorial Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Education in 2018.

The Peer Review of Teaching Program has been in existence at K-State since 1999. The program originally was part of a larger project that originated at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and was funded jointly by the PEW foundation and the provost's office. PEW Foundation funding for the project ended in 2004. Because the program has been beneficial to participants and the university in many ways, the decision was made to continue it through funding from the provost's office.
