Volunteers needed for residence hall move-in day

Submitted by Housing and Dining Services

Housing and Dining Services needs Welcome Cat volunteers to assist new and returning Wildcats as they move into their residence hall on Saturday, Aug. 18, the official opening day.

Last year, a large number of Welcome Cat members continued the move-in event tradition of helping students settle in. These volunteers are a tremendous help to the department on this busy day, and there can never be too many.

Help is requested from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Individuals must sign up by Aug. 1; no group sign-ups are allowed. By Aug. 13, volunteers will receive an email with the location and the date of a planning meeting. They will receive a Welcome Cat T-shirt, while supplies last.

Individuals who are part of an organization may advertise by wearing pins, stickers, etc., but no materials may be handed out to students during move-in. Please bring water or a water bottle to refill at a fountain while volunteering.

Three shifts are available: 9:30 a.m. to noon; noon to 2:30 p.m.; or all day from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. On the day of move-in, please report to the front desk of your assigned location 15 minutes before your shift.

This is a great way to welcome new members to the K-State family! Please sign up to volunteer and contact us with your questions at reslife@k-state.edu.
