By Savannah Rattanavong

The Asian American Student Union, or AASU, invites the K-State and Manhattan community to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month from April 13-20. All events are free and open to the public.

  • April 13 — Vietnamese-American writer Lily Hoang, whose works bridge experimental fiction and Asian American literature, will have a public reading and Q&A from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Ekdahl Room of Regnier Hall.
  • April 15 — Sample foods from all over Asia during the Taste of Asia event from 5:30-8 p.m. at the International Student Center. The menu will include foods such as spring rolls, kim bap, mochi and more. In exchange for entry, please bring donations for Cats' Cupboard, K-State's student food pantry. A list of most-need items can be found online
  • April 17 — Enjoy free drinks and popcorn during a screening of South Korean zombie thriller film, "Train to Busan" at 7 p.m. in Wildcat Chamber of the K-State Student Union.
  • April 20 — The Muay Thai Club at K-State will host a live demonstration and class to teach participants the basic moves of Thai boxing and martial arts from 6-7 p.m. at the Union courtyard.
