KSU Wind Ensemble

The K-State Wind Ensemble and Concert Band will be presenting a free concert at 7:30 p.m. tonight in McCain Auditorium.

The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Frank Tracz, director of bands and professor of music, with special guest conductor Robert Spradling, director of bands at Western Michigan University. The Concert Band is under the direction of Don Linn, instructor of music, and will also feature Spradling for their portion of the concert.

The Wind Ensemble is the premier wind performance group at K-State and will feature exciting works from composers Gary Gilroy, Paul Hindemith, Vincent Persichetti, David Gillingham and Steven Bryant. Spradling will conduct the Wind Ensemble on Steven Bryant’s work "Ecstatic Waters," a recent award-winning piece that features the Wind Ensemble with electronic and pre-recorded accompaniment.

The Concert Band will be presenting their half of the concert featuring works from composers Frank Ticheli, Morten Lauridsen, Robert Jager and Donald Grantham.
