German program receives grant from Kansas Humanities Council

Submitted by Nichole Neuman

The German program in the modern languages department received a Kansas Humanities Council grant in support of its event, "Spotlighting Louise Brooks: From the Kansas Prairie to the German Silver Screen," on Feb. 24 in 109 Justin Hall.

"KHC Humanities Grants support projects that connect audiences with the humanities," said Julie Mulvihill, executive director of the Kansas Humanities Council. "This event offers a fresh look at the career of famous Kansan Louise Brooks and her role in developing the image of the 'new woman' in the Weimar cinema in the 1920s and 1930s."

Events, which also are funded by the Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies, begin at 10 a.m. Feb. 24 and are free and open to the public. Contact Nichole Neuman at nneuman@k-state.edu for more information.
