Donations from K-Staters help area youth participate in service-learning projects, attend workshops

Submitted by K-State United Way Campaign Committee

Donations from K-Staters help a variety of United Way benefiting organizations serving area youth.

The Flint Hills Volunteer Center's Youth Volunteer Corps gives kids between the ages of 11 and 18 the opportunity to participate in volunteer activities that are challenging and rewarding. Below is a story of how the United Way helps the organization:

"Area United Way funds allowed the Youth Volunteer Corps of Manhattan to send six youth, ages 11-15, to the National Youth Volunteer Summit in Philadelphia in October 2016. Thanks to a mini-grant from the Konza United Way, two participants were able to attend the summit, participate in service-learning projects and attend workshops. Due to their hands-on participation at the summit, they came back and helped initiate a Youth Executive Board and set goals for 2017 with a variety of service-learning projects."

As of Nov. 27, 375 K-State employees have pledged $65,100 to the United Way, making stories like this possible.

Help K-State raise $34,900 to reach its $100,000 goal. Donating is quick and easy through HRIS
