Workshop: Teaching Tools to Improve Student Learning and Teacher Evaluations Oct. 24

Submitted by Todd Easton

Todd Easton, K-State's Coffman chair for distinguished teaching scholars, invites all faculty and graduate teaching assistants to attend a workshop on effective teaching tools. The workshop, Teaching Tools to Improve Student Learning and Teacher Evaluations, will be 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, in 2078 Durland/Rathbone Hall. Please register in advance by emailing teaston@k-state.edu as space is limited.

Abstract: This hands-on workshop presents techniques to help faculty engage students during lecture. Research has shown that engaging students improves learning and teacher evaluations. Attendees will learn passive methods to interact with students, common active learning methods, and a new active learning method called lecture based tutoring. The focus of the workshop is for participants to leave with new methods, techniques and tools to use in their classrooms.
