2017 Vanguard Lecture Series: Vijay Kanagala
Vijay Kanagala, University of Vermont, will speak as part of the Vanguard Lecture Series from 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, in 21 Bluemont Hall.
Kanagala is a scholar in higher education specializing in student affairs. Kanagala will explore how an asset-based — instead of deficit-based — framework can be used creatively in higher education classrooms through an arts-based Cajitas Project to understand intersectional identities, and to cultivate an ethic of love, compassion and empathy.
The lecture is sponsored by the Kansas State University Qualitative Research Student Organization, Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies, and the educational leadership department.
