Human development and family science offers peer mentor program

Submitted by College of Human Ecology

The human development and family science undergraduate program in the College of Human Ecology's School of Family Studies and Human Services, has initiated a peer mentoring program for the 2017-18 academic year.

Human development and family science seniors Kaylee Seyferth, Garden City; Jaci Kolm, Pratt; Lara Hoss, Salina; and Mallory Wilhite, Shawnee, will assist declared and prospective students with questions about the human development and family science major and minor. Topics may include tips on enrollment and scheduling classes, navigating their degree requirements, explaining KSIS and DARS, questions about student life, and the variety of campus resources. Peer mentors will offer their unique perspective to the students with whom they meet.

The human development and family science peer mentors represent the diverse academic paths within the major. Their career interests range from occupational therapy and couple and family therapy to working in nonprofits and higher education. Peer mentors are available every day of the week. Students may drop into 305 Justin Hall, but are encouraged to make appointments or email them with specific questions.
