Riley County Police Department seeking tips in ongoing investigation

Submitted by Division of Communications and Marketing

The Riley County Police Department and the Lawrence Police Department hosted a joint news conference July 27 with new information regarding unsolved, reported off-campus rapes that took place between 2000-2015 in Manhattan and Lawrence. The law enforcement agencies are looking for any information that can help the ongoing investigation.

The Riley County Police Department released details about its investigation. Contact RCPD with tips at 785-539-7777 or toll free at 1-800-222-TIPS, or 8477. Tips may also be sent by text to "CRIMES," or 274637. Start the body of the message with "TIP353." Web tips also are accepted by visiting Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers or RileyCountyPolice.org.

Safety of the Kansas State University community is of utmost concern. Faculty and staff are encouraged to share this information with students and community members to help RCPD with its investigation.

All persons at the university, including students, are reminded to report to the university information about sexual violence incidents, so the university can process the report under its policies and help students get to the numerous resources available. Read the Student Guide to Help and Resources or the Office of Student Life campus safety website for safety resources.

Stay safe, K-Staters!
