Form I-9 Basics and Compliance session scheduled for Aug. 8

Submitted by Human Capital Services-Learning and Development

Form I-9 Basics and Compliance, WHR130, will be offered from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Aug. 8 in the Edwards Hall commons area. Human Capital Services offers this session specifically for K-State employees who are responsible for accurate completion of the Employment Eligibility Verification Form, or Form I-9.

The Form I-9 is used for verifying the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States. All U.S. employers must ensure proper completion of Form I-9 for each individual they hire for employment in the United States. This includes citizens and noncitizens. Both employees and employers, or authorized representatives of the employer, must complete the form.

Participants will learn about the requirements of the Immigration and Reform Control Act of 1986, or IRCA. As a result, the presenter will discuss the new revised Form I-9, issued Nov. 14 and outline the changes, documents commonly presented, and common errors to avoid when completing the Form I-9.

As a result of this session, participants will:

  • Understand the Immigration and Reform Control Act of 1986.
  • Learn how to properly complete the Form I-9.
  • Identify common errors to avoid when completing the Form I-9.

To register for this session, you can either sign up through HRIS self-service or send an email to Samantha Roberts at learning-develop-hr@k-state.edu. When sending an email, please include your name, employee ID and the course title.
