Join K-State Libraries for a celebration of Marcia Stockham's retirement from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, in the Hemisphere Room on Hale Library's fifth floor.

Stockham, an associate dean and professor, has led the Libraries' Content Management and Scholarly Communications Division since January 2010. In that position, she has overseen collections and acquisitions expenditures, promoted digital preservation and open access and served as a member of the library senior administration team.

Stockham received her bachelor's degree from K-State in 1970 and her master's degree in library science from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1993. After six years at Columbia College, she joined K-State Libraries in 2001. During her tenure, she served more than eight years as education subject librarian. From 2005-2009 she also was chair of the social sciences and humanities track.

Her service to K-State has included multiple committee appointments, including two years as co-chair of the faculty salaries and fringe benefits committee and a term as faculty senator.

Stockham has provided key leadership during the establishment of the Libraries' open access initiatives, and she was co-founder of K-State's Open Access Publishing Fund, which helps authors pay fees associated with publishing in open access journals.

In 2009, she received K-State Libraries' Brice G. Hobrock Distinguished Faculty Award.

Please stop by to enjoy refreshments and honor Stockham for her 16 years of service. If you are unable to attend and wish to send her a personal farewell note or card, please direct it to K-State Libraries, 1117 Mid-Campus Drive North, Manhattan, KS 66506, or contact Carmen Thurlow at 785-532-7402 or cthurlow@k-state.edu.
