Engineering extension specialist receives energy manager certification

Submitted by David Carter

Yvonne Cook, energy specialist with the K-State engineering extension Kansas Energy Program, recently received energy manager certification from the Association of Energy Engineers.

Cook joins more than 15,500 active certified energy managers throughout the U.S. and in 25 countries abroad in providing credible energy management advice to industry, business and government. Through engineering extension's recent partnership with the Kansas Corporation Commission, Cook has conducted more than 31 energy assessments at rural small businesses in Kansas since January 2016.

The certified energy manager credential is widely accepted and used as a measure of professional accomplishment within the energy management field, with industrywide use as the standard for qualifying energy professionals in the U.S. and abroad. It is recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Federal Energy Management Programs and U.S. Agency for International Development, as well as by numerous state energy offices, major utilities, corporations and energy service companies.
