Update on WannaCry ransomware

Submitted by Information Technology Services

Information Technology Services continues to monitor the network for vulnerabilities for the WannaCry ransomware threat. In conjunction with system administrators, we are working to update all systems on campus.

The best defense for K-State students, faculty and staff is to update their Microsoft Windows operating system and their antivirus. The specific Microsoft patch is MS17-010 SMB vulnerability dated March 14, 2017.

According to university policy, systems that are not patched risk being blocked from the K-State network. If you are not sure if your system has been patched, please see the "Ensure your computer is patched" article or contact the IT Help Desk at 785-532-7722 or helpdesk@k-state.edu.
