Final days to see 'Civil War Era Drawings' at Beach Museum of Art

Submitted by Martha Scott

Come see the rare "Civil War Era Drawings from the Becker Collection" at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art before the exhibition closes Saturday, Dec. 17.

The Becker Archive in Boston, Massachusetts, contains approximately 650 previously undocumented drawings by Joseph Becker and his colleagues, 19th-century artists who worked as artist-reporters for Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper.

Part of this traveling exhibition is displayed at the U.S. Cavalry Museum at Fort Riley through a partnership that also brings Civil War-related artifacts from the Cavalry Museum to the galleries of the Beach Museum of Art.

Located at the southeast corner of the campus, the museum galleries are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The museum will be closed for the holidays Dec. 24 through Jan. 2.
