Submitted by Division of Communications and Marketing

Marcelo Sabatés, associate provost for international programs, has accepted a position at Columbia College Chicago as vice provost for global education and will start in February 2017.

"The Office of International Programs has made great progress under Dr. Sabatés' leadership, which has contributed to K-State's progress toward becoming a Top 50 public research university," said April Mason, provost and senior vice president. "Dr. Sabatés has helped grow the university's international programs and partnerships, expand student and faculty participation in study abroad, and advance the K-State 2025 Internationalization Strategic Plan. We are grateful for all his hard work and wish him well in his new endeavor."

Sabatés began serving as interim associate provost in July 2011 and was appointed to the full position in spring 2014. He has overseen the study abroad program, international admissions and recruiting, international scholar and student services, international faculty collaborations, the English language program and the Confucius Institute. He was philosophy department head from 2003 to 2011. He joined the Kansas State University faculty in 1996 as assistant professor, and became associate professor in 2001.
