New Faculty Resources website improves RSCAD support
A Top 50 public research university needs to provide the very best research services to faculty, staff and students. In pursuit of that goal, the Office of the Vice President for Research has refreshed and upgraded the Faculty Resources section of the research website to help faculty members as they pursue funding for their research, scholarly, and creative activity and discovery efforts.
The improved site gathers information and resources offered by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, PreAward Services, the Office of Corporate Engagement and the KSU Research Foundation into logical processes that follow the RSCAD life cycle. Information is organized into actions: Find Funding, Establish a Collaboration, Prepare a Proposal, Submit a Proposal, Manage Awards, and Manage Intellectual Property or Submit an Invention.
"We must provide world-class support to our RSCAD community, and this refresh is a step in that direction," said Peter Dorhout, vice president for research.
Dorhout added that faculty sometimes does't know about available support services, particularly when we add features, so making that information easier to find will help K-State succeed in efforts to increase research awards and research expenditures. Efforts to improve the site are ongoing.
"We hope faculty and staff who use the website will offer feedback so we can continue to improve," he said. "We are embarking on a continuous improvement strategy, but we need your help."
Other enhancements will be completed in the coming months. Projects to improve the process of finding campus and industry collaborators and to search equipment and facilities available on campus are in the works. The VPR unit also is engaging in strategic planning in September to find more ways to boost RSCAD support.
