Management Information Systems Club reflects on year's activities, elects new officers

Submitted by Michael Chilton

The Management Information Systems Club had its final meeting of the 2015-2016 school year on May 1.

The club's members elected new officers for the 2016-2017 school year: Karla Wasinger, president, Leawood; Dan Elsbernd, vice-president, Topeka; Milca Aguirre, treasurer, Kansas City, Kansas; Aaron Fox, secretary, Shawnee; and Olivia Sabala, public relations officer, Olathe.

The membership expressed its thanks to the outgoing officers for their work during the past year: Anne Feldkamp, president; Andrew Franchett, vice-president; Olivia Englert, secretary; Derek Cox, treasurer; Paige Lauer and Karla Wasinger, public relations; and Brett Sherbert, chief information officer.

This year's activities included several guest speakers and field trips to benefit the club. In fall 2015, the club hosted a social to allow current management information systems students and employers to share information about available jobs and student qualifications for those jobs.

During the spring 2016 semester, club members attended a field trip to Kansas City, Kansas, to visit with prospective employers at Lexmark and Epiq; and a trip to Wichita, Kansas to visit Koch Industries.

Guest speakers at the club's monthly meetings included representatives from Cisco, Netsmart, Garmin, Koch Industries, Xpanxion, RSM and Phillips 66.
