Associate vice president for research presents at University Industry Demonstration Partnership meeting

Submitted by Sarah Hancock

Paul Lowe, associate vice president for research and director of PreAward Services, will serve as a presenter on three panels at the University Industry Demonstration Partnership, or UIDP, meeting April 12-14 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

UIDP's purpose is to provide companies and research universities with opportunities to increase the success of university-industry collaborations and research projects. Lowe will co-present an overview of the organization's current projects to kick off a project expo where attendees can learn about recent publications and resources. He also will serve on a breakout session panel on UIDP opportunities and challenges in the agriculture sector; co-presenters will include representatives from Pioneer, Coca-Cola and John Deere. At another session, Lowe will explain how K-State incorporates UIDP materials and best practices into training opportunities such as the Working With Industry Boot Camp offered last year, Working With Industry Workshops offered last fall and refashioned as customizable offerings for 2016, and the K-State Research Showcase.

K-State joined UIDP in 2006 as one of its original members. Lowe appreciates its value.

"The UIDP presents an excellent forum for K-State to be plugged into the latest concerns, best practices and strategies selflessly contributed by the industry and university subject matter experts that make up the UIDP membership. The entire membership is dedicated to finding ways to bridge the university-industry interface," Lowe said.
