2015 RiPS student participants

The Kansas Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, or KS-LSAMP, is looking for science, technology, engineering or math faculty members to participate in the 2016 Research Immersion: Pathways to STEM RiPS summer program.

This is an eight-week summer research program that will take place May 31-July 27. The program aims to provide a research experience for students enrolled at KS-LSAMP associated postsecondary institutions such as Donnelly College, Dodge City Community College, Garden City Community College and Seward County Community College, with a goal to increase engagement of underrepresented minority students in science, technology, engineering and math fields. Students are paired with faculty mentors based on their stated interests. During the program, student participants are expected to commit 30-35 hours per week to their research experience. This may include conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, library work or other research related activities.

Faculty mentors interested in participating should be available to work with students throughout the majority of the eight-week program as well as be available for social gatherings that occur throughout the summer.

The program provides an immersive experience and aims to ease students' transition from their current postsecondary institutions to K-State by providing interactions among student participants, faculty members and K-State student support services throughout the summer.

If you are interested in serving as a faculty mentor, or if you have questions about the program, please contact Brenee King, KS-LSAMP's project coordinator at lsamp@k-state.edu.

Additionally, you can view information about previous Pathways to STEM RiPS participants on the KS-LSAMP blog. Find 2014 and 2015 participants.
