Letter from the V.P. for Human Capital Services: New website will improve usability
Be on the lookout for a refreshed Web presence from the Division of Human Capital Services.
We will be unveiling a new website, http://www.k-state.edu/hcs, Wednesday, Aug. 5, to help integrate all the division's responsibilities into one area. The new site is part of the transition of the Office of Academic Personnel and Human Resources into the Division of Human Capital Services. It will merge all information related to human resources, human capital, dispute resolution, the grievance board and employment at Kansas State University.
We will host a Purple Carpet Reveal of the new website from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug 12, in the K-State Student Union's Room 227. Several computers will be available to explore the new site and many Human Capital Services staff will be present to answer questions at the come-and-go event. In addition, snacks and drinks will be provided.
Similar to all of our services, we want the new site to foster communication and collaboration, so we conducted usability testing in partnership with the Division of Communications and Marketing's Web Services team. We asked current K-State employees and human capital services liaisons to complete tasks in the new site during organized usability sessions. The information gained from this type of testing helped us refine the site structure and content organization so users should be able to find what they need in a timely manner.
Thank you to all of those who have provided extensive development and reorganization of a massive amount of content for the new site. I am excited for this transition because it will help current and potential employees find the resources and contacts they need to be successful at K-State.
