K-State Police Officer Randy Myles

K-State Police Officer Randy Myles recently graduated with the 234th class of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center. Myles has been at the police academy for the last 14 weeks.

Officers receive training in Kansas law, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, accident investigation, crime scene processing and other critical aspects of being a law enforcement officer. Myles will now be part of a 12-week field-training program, where he will continue his training with a certified field training officer.

A grant from the Community Oriented Policing Services Office, which is focused on increasing crime prevention efforts and community policing, provided the funding to hire Myles.

"Community policing is the foundation of our law enforcement on campus," said Ronnie Grice, assistant vice president for public safety and chief of police. "Enhancing an already great program is a testament to our commitment to our community."
