Student Access Center providing assistance for those who need help around campus construction

Submitted by Andrea Blair

Just as spring flowers are popping up all over campus, so too are construction projects. For most people on campus, these projects may cause delays in travel time and minor inconveniences when roads and sidewalks close. However, minor inconveniences for most are major obstacles for those with mobility and vision issues.

Student Access Center works with students with disabilities to provide equal access to campus life and traveling across campus is certainly an integral component of that access. To better address student concerns, we have added a report a barrier link to the Student Access Center homepage.

The office also encourages students to call the office to report a barrier or let us know if we can be of any assistance. The office is in touch with project managers to inform them of the barriers and see if solutions can be found. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
